RUSTIC PATHWAYS IN THE FIJI ISLANDS
Rustic Pathways is the leader in student travel in Fiji. Over the past eighteen years we have developed a wonderful range of exciting and enlightening programs that immerse our students in Fijian life. Operating from three unique and picturesque bases – a tropical retreat on remote Nacula Island, a traditional bure nestled deep in the Nausori Highlands, and an Eco-Lodge that overlooks peaceful Momi Bay – we offer many wonderful opportunities to explore Fiji's beautiful tropical islands and get to know the friendly locals. Our love for Fijian culture and our deep respect for the people of these magnificent islands are echoed throughout our extensive community service and adventure trips, which both educate and challenge our students.

AIRLINE INFORMATION and PROGRAM CONNECTIVITY
Rustic Pathways offers weekly escorted flights from Los Angeles to the South Pacific throughout the summer for students on our high school programs. Students from around the United States meet in Los Angeles and travel together with their flight leader to and from the South Pacific. Our programs in The Fiji Islands connect seamlessly and can also be combined with most of our trips in Australia and New Zealand.

Fiji is one of the first places in the world to greet the new day. Fiji was once known as the Cannibal Isles. One chief is said to have eaten 872 people. However, there has been no cannibalism in the islands since 1867. Fijians are now reputed to be among the friendliest people in the world. It is considered rude to rush anywhere in Fiji. Many things run on Fijian time – a term often referred to when things don't happen as quickly as one may expect. Part of the beauty of the islands is that you can live at a slower pace and take the time to enjoy every minute.

On the Fiji Leadership Challenge you’ll move beyond the role of a student and become a hands-on facilitator for Fijian youth. During the first week of your program you’ll learn what it takes to become a leader. Create games, problem-solving activities, low ropes courses, and design your own leadership curriculum. As you develop your skills, you’ll venture into the Fijian school system and apply what you have learned.
