Six Themes for Your Group Trip
Beyond Service
Rustic Pathways Groups believes that providing quality service opportunities is among the most important aspects in immersive travel, global understanding, and personal development. In an effort to prepare the students for their coming adventure, we provide educational material about the issues, people, and cultures the students are soon to encounter. During your trip, we provide meaningful service projects and reflective nighttime discussions as to the mission, vision and effectiveness of these initiatives. After your trip, we work with you in brainstorming productive and progressive means of continuing in our roles as responsible global citizens.
Local Immersion
Every Rustic Pathways Groups Local Immersion program is designed with the goal of facilitating cross-cultural understanding, the backbone of any global education. Each program is designed to immerse your group in a local culture, open a dialogue between your students and their local hosts, and provide them with an appreciation for cultural diversity. Be adopted into communities rarely touched by the outside world as you stay in an ancient monastery in China, work on village projects in Costa Rica, or delve into the vibrant river communities of Cambodia. Our Local Immersion programs will get your students off the beaten path with an experience only Rustic Pathways Groups can provide.
Curriculum-Based
Supplement your classroom curriculum with hands-on learning. Teach biology or environmental conservation as your students monitor the health of coral reefs in Fiji. Immerse your students in Chinese as they study with professors at Dali University and live with local families in the hills of Yunnan. Learn about the ancient ruins of Machu Picchu and practice your Spanish in Peru. Rustic Pathways Groups will help you craft the perfect addition to your students' classroom learning.
Cultural Exploration
Solidify your students' passion for foreign cultures with one of our exciting Cultural Explorations. Whether you meet with a local chief in Ghana, tour the Taj Mahal at sunrise, or partake in a traditional Thai string ceremony, each of our Cultural Exploration programs proves that learning can be an adventure. With energetic and well-informed local staff in each of our countries, your students will gain firsthand insight into the local way of life. These journeys take you from top attractions to off-the-map sites, and provide your students with a deep understanding of a foreign culture along the way.
Pushing Boundaries
Expand your students' understanding of their own abilities and their relationship with the world around them. Whether you bring your students on a hike to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro, journey off the map in Burma, or explore the edges of civilization on a Himalayan trek, Rustic Pathways Groups Pushing Boundaries programs will challenge your students to step beyond the confines of what they know. After your Pushing Boundaries trip, your students will return home with a newfound group cohesion and an empowered sense of self.
Schools for Schools
Rustic Pathways Groups recognizes that the challenge to educate students in underserved communities goes far beyond the physical process of building a structure. By committing to a Schools for Schools project, your group will forge a long-term relationship with a high-need community in the developing world. Designed to span several years and encompass everything from fundraising to cinderblocks to lesson plans and workbooks, your Schools for Schools experience will provide your students with the opportunity to be on the ground floor of an exciting new educational movement.
