Almost all Rustic Pathways programs interconnect! Many of our students take advantage of this by combining several programs – and often several countries – to build their perfect summer. Many Rustic Pathways students combine programs within Costa Rica, Peru, Panama and the Dominican Republic to create the ultimate Latin America experience. Most programs have numerous departure dates which allow students the flexibility to travel at their convenience. We strongly encourage students to take advantage of their time in this unique part of the world!

Visit the Dominican Republic first, then...
Add Panama $575
Add Costa Rica $600
Add Peru: We strongly recommend doing Peru and then the Dominican Republic. If scheduling requires you to do the Dominican Republic first then consult dominicanrepublic@rusticpathways.com.
Combining with programs in South Pacific, South East Asia, Africa and other destinations...
Students can connect our Latin America programs with our destinations worldwide. To make this transition as straightforward and economic as possible, these transfers require a stopover in the United States. Any student looking to connect from Costa Rica, Peru, Panama or the Dominican Republic will need to return home and then depart on our group flight to their new destination on the following week.
For students who traveling to multiple countries, please contact our Main Office at 800-321-4353 ext.0 for the current additional Tax and Fuel Surcharge quote.
Flights between the New York and Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic will be escorted by one of our flight leaders. We have tried our hardest to have a staff member on every flight; however on our flights connecting the Latin American countries which are short, non-stop flights there may not always be a flight leader. In these cases, students are always checked-in for their international flight by a Rustic Pathways staff member and met by a staff member upon arrival and after clearing customs.
Students traveling to the Dominican Republic are responsible for getting to New York on their own. Due to frequent domestic airline delays pertaining to weather or mechanical problems, we require that you arrive at your gateway city a minimum of 3-4 hours prior to the scheduled departure of the group flight.
All students not beginning their journey in New York must pick up their bags from their domestic flights and recheck them for our international group flights. Please allow yourself enough time to pick up and check in your bags to our international group flights. The only exception is students flying Delta Airlines to JFK in which case you can check bags through to Santo Domingo.
Within 12 hours of students reaching their program destinations, a safe arrival email is sent to their parents confirming the students' safe arrival overseas. Just one more way that we try to increase transparency and help you understand that your son or daughter is just as important to us as he/she is to you.
