A Brief History of Dali University
In June 2001, the Chinese Ministry of Education approved the establishment of Dali University. The new institution is the result of the integration of four colleges: Dali Medical College, Dali Teachers College, Dali Radio & Television College, and Dali College of Industry, all of which have histories spanning more than two decades. This great union has forged one of the most reputable and outstanding universities in Yunnan Province, as well as the whole of the People’s Republic, and attracts Chinese students from over 27 provinces and autonomous regions of the country.

The University has 15 colleges and 5 science research institutes offering 8 master degree programs, 30 undergraduate and 21 three-year programs in liberal arts, science, medical science, engineering, education, law, and management. Last year, the total enrollment was approximately 26,000, and of these over 400 were foreign students from more than 15 countries.

With two separate programs running simultaneously (Chinese Language Immersion & Intensive Chinese Language), students can come and immerse themselves into the language and culture of China in a way never before experienced.

The Chinese Language Immersion Program - Small Groups to Suit Your Needs
For students looking to study Mandarin with their peers, Rustic Pathways has created a customized two-week program that immerses you into the language within small group settings of 4 to 5 students. This program is designed to accommodate any level of proficiency, from a new beginner seeking a first introduction into the language to more advanced students looking to fine tune their Mandarin. This range of proficiency allows you to settle in and begin your studies at whatever level you find comfortable. The 44 hours of class time in each two-week course gives you a chance to truly embrace this amazing and intricate language, while at the same time having a great time with your classmates and instructors in a beautiful, traditional Chinese setting.

The Intensive Chinese Language Program - One on One Private Instruction
For those students who want personalized instruction and tutoring to rapidly advance their proficiency in Mandarin Chinese, our expert staff have created private one-on-one tutoring classes. With this one-on-one program structure, students can progress at their own rate of learning, and can choose to focus on the areas that they are most interested in. Dali University has developed an extensive curriculum to challenge Rustic students of every level. This program offers a unique opportunity to embrace the intricate Chinese language while enjoying the beautiful Dali region and culture. Each two weeks session provides 44 hours of private language instruction.

Outside the Classroom – The Ancient City of Dali Awaits
The beautiful 400 acre campus lies nestled against the peaks of the Jade Mountains, immediately outside the gates of Dali’s Old City. The breathtaking landscape surrounding this beautiful campus is perfect backdrop for the University’s state of the art facilities. After class, join in the wide array of activities that our staff has arranged in town, including tai-chi, hiking, boating, painting, and more, while exploring the cool sights in the area. You’ll also have plenty of time to explore Dali’s old town with your friends and our staff, where you’ll get some real language practice chatting with the cheerful locals as you wander the quaint, cobbled streets.
