Here volcanic peaks draped in forest rise in the distance and lions and cheetahs roam the dusty plains. Here the treasures of the Kalahari beckon and the rewards of meaningful service await. From teaching English in small villages to climbing the tallest peak in Africa and hanging out on the beautiful beaches of Zanzibar, our programs in Tanzania are a diverse mix of service and adventure. Join us as we delve into Tanzania’s hidden riches and unexplored corners! This year we are also proud to announce our first trip into Botswana and Namibia. The Trans-Kalahari Photo Expedition is an incredible adventure that will introduce you to Africa at its most photogenic. The Skeleton Coast, the Okavango Delta, and the Kalahari Desert are all waiting to be captured by the lenses of intrepid shutter bugs. Whether in the shadow of Kili in Tanzania or the vast Kalahari Desert in Botswana, join us as we explore the best of this diverse continent!.

This program will take you to some of the most incredible regions of southern Africa and introduce you to one of the oldest cultures in the world. You will experience the Kalahari region for all that it is: stark and lush, stunning and remote, simply vibrant.

* This program has two departure dates. The first trip is for college students only. You must be at least 18 years old and have completed your freshman year of college to join the first trip. The second departure date is open to all Rustic Pathways high school students who are at least 15 years old.
